Community Rules
These rules apply to every report, photo, note, rating, and message you submit publicly in OpenCamp Atlas.
1. Report facts, not opinions
- Describe what you saw: road surface, distance, date, signal bars, posted signs, hazards.
- Do not submit a report based on a map or a guess. Submit reports only for a site or road you have visited yourself.
- Date your report. Old conditions reported as current mislead the next traveler and put them at risk.
2. Protect sensitive land
- Use the "approximate area" location option for low-traffic or fragile dispersed sites, as prompted in the Add Report flow.
- Do not post exact coordinates for a site that local land managers ask travelers to keep general, even if you found the exact coordinates elsewhere.
- Do not encourage other users, in a note or comment, to exceed a posted stay limit or group size limit.
3. Respect posted rules and private property
- Do not submit a site that is on private property without the owner's permission.
- Do not submit a site, road, or route that requires trespassing to reach.
- If posted signage conflicts with your report, note the sign in your report and defer to it.
4. Respect other people
- No harassment, threats, hate speech, or doxxing (posting another person's private information).
- No sexual content, no content involving minors in an unsafe context, no content promoting illegal activity.
- Disagree with a report by submitting your own dated report, not by attacking the person who posted it.
5. Original content only
- Post only photos and text you have the right to share.
- Do not copy site descriptions, photos, or map data from another app or website.
- Do not post spam, advertising, or affiliate links in reports or notes.
6. Consequences
Violating these rules can result in content removal, a warning, a temporary posting restriction, or account suspension. See Moderation Policy for the full process.
7. Report a problem
If you see content that breaks these rules, use the "Report" control on any site, photo, or report. Include what rule you believe was broken. Our moderation process is described in Moderation Policy.
