Support
Find help, instructions, and support resources for NEXRAD Analyst Pro on Mac, iPhone, and Apple Watch.
Getting Started
Select a Radar Site
Press ⌘L or click the site selector in the toolbar to browse 160+ NEXRAD radar sites. Search by site ID (e.g., KTLX), city name, or state. Star your favorites for quick access.
Choose a Product
Use ⌘1–⌘8 or the product picker to switch between reflectivity, velocity, storm-relative velocity, spectrum width, and dual-pol products (ZDR, ρHV, KDP, ΦDP).
Analyze the Data
Use workstation layouts, the inspector panel, playback controls, and warning overlays to analyze weather patterns. On iPhone, use the radar workstation controls for products, loops, overlays, and exports.
Features Guide
Multi-Pane Display
View up to four radar products simultaneously with synced map navigation. Use ⌘⌃1–⌘⌃3 or the layout picker in the toolbar to switch between 1-up, 2-up, and 4-up views. Each pane can display a different product while maintaining synchronized pan and zoom. Requires Pro.
3D Volume Rendering
Press ⌘⌥3 or toggle the 3D view from the toolbar to see a Metal-accelerated volumetric rendering of the entire radar volume. Click and drag to rotate, scroll to zoom. The performance overlay shows FPS and render time. Requires Pro.
Storm-Relative Velocity (SRM)
Enable SRM from the toolbar to subtract storm motion from velocity data, making rotation signatures easier to identify. Use the storm motion editor to set direction and speed based on storm movement. Requires Pro.
Inspector Panel
Press ⌘⌥I to open the inspector panel with hodograph wind profiles, atmospheric soundings (from real radiosonde data), and detailed volume scan information including VCP, elevation angles, and coordinates. Requires Pro.
NWS Warning Overlays
Toggle warning polygons with ⌘⇧W to see active National Weather Service warnings. Tornado warnings appear in red, severe thunderstorm in orange, flash flood in green, and special weather statements in yellow.
METAR Surface Observations
Enable METAR display from the toolbar to see nearby surface weather stations plotted using standard meteorological station models with wind barbs, sky cover symbols, temperature, dewpoint, and pressure.
Playback & Timeline
Press Space to play/pause, or ⌘←/⌘→ to step through recent volume scans. Use the timeline scrubber at the bottom of the display for direct frame navigation.
AI Weather Analysis
Use the AI analysis button in the toolbar to generate an on-device weather situation summary with threat assessment and safety recommendations. Analysis runs locally using Core ML, Apple Foundation Models where available, or a rule-based fallback. Requires the ML Analysis Pack or any Pro purchase.
Lightning & Model Data Overlays
Toggle real-time lightning strikes and numerical weather prediction model data (HRRR, RAP, NAM, GFS) onto the radar display for comprehensive situational awareness. Requires the Storm Chaser Pack or any Pro purchase.
SharePlay
Collaborate on storm analysis in real time during FaceTime calls. Shared radar views, product selections, and synchronized cursor positions keep your team on the same page.

Troubleshooting
Radar data is not loading
NEXRAD Analyst Pro requires an internet connection to fetch radar data from NOAA and AWS. Check your network connection and press ⌘R to refresh. If a specific site is unavailable, the radar may be undergoing maintenance.
3D rendering performance is slow
3D volume rendering uses Metal GPU acceleration. Performance depends on your GPU. Close other GPU-intensive applications and try reducing the window size. Apple silicon Macs provide the best rendering performance. The app supports MetalFX upscaling for improved performance.
METAR data is missing for some stations
METAR observations are fetched from the NWS API and depend on station reporting. Not all stations near a radar site may have current observations. Observations update approximately every hour.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open NEXRAD Analyst Pro, go to the subscription view (Pro badge in toolbar), and click "Restore Purchases." Your subscriptions and in-app purchases sync automatically through your Apple ID.
AI analysis is not available
On-device AI weather analysis uses Apple Foundation Models on supported macOS releases. On macOS 15, a rule-based analysis engine provides threat assessment and safety recommendations as a fallback. The ML Analysis Pack or any Pro purchase unlocks this feature.
